This is what I’d tell you if it were just us …

You know, if we were sitting around a fire, a dark forest at our backs and a moon overhead.
If we were chatting about deeper things and finally had a moment to breathe.
If we were able to embrace the wilder side of ourselves more often.
The world seems too polished now. Too perfect.
People too stuck on the highlight reels of social media and keeping up certain appearances, even though this way they're lonelier than ever.
But then, when you find your people, and you sit in a more private space, we all end up admitting to one another that we don't want that life. We want depth, and truth, and true connection.
The raw, messy part of human life.
Exploring, playing, messing up but who cares coz at least we're living true to ourselves.
I want people to do this more.
I used to think my writing had to be perfect or polished or 'what was expected'. Whatever that means.
To follow certain rules.
But it felt fake. It didn't feel like me. And it wasn't fun.
I started writing for myself more. Just having fun with it. (This is the joy of being Indie.)
And with this, I found my work got better. (I think. For me.) And I hope it gels with more people too, this way. The RIGHT people.
I often think back to what humanity used to be.
Sitting around a fire. Talking. Telling stories. Dancing. Eating together. Songs. Music. Art.
Creating. Not consuming.
I want to go back to that life again. Kinda. In the way that we have now.
We can still find our friends. Like minded people.
We can still find joy in the human made. Human art. Human stories.
Share life together.
Walk together.
In a world that is panicking about art being swallowed by AI, it makes me chase human made art all the more. Not only giving myself more time to make art but to find others who do the same.
Making art really quietens my mind down. Dulls the forever noise that we have now. Gets me in touch with who I really am and what's important with me.
A slower life. A messier life. But a true life.
My work's getting more raw. More human. Because if there's something that AI can't do, it's putting the human experience into the art.
I want people to feel like they've traipsed through a wild fantasy environment. Walked over rough hills with a cold wind whipping about them. And then, when they finally stumble upon a tavern, they enter with muddied boots and rosy cheeks to a rush of warmth from a crackling hearth, and laughter and the clanking of mugs and crockery as others like them gather to tell stories of travel, with a bard or music performer tinkling in the background.
Call me romantic haha.
And if this sounds good to you (these stories, this life), then join this fire too. And we'll talk about things if it were just us, with a fire crackling in front of us, and a dark forest behind, and a moon overhead.
Come walk The Wilds with me.
We'll have way more fun this way.
